Commercial Site Work — From Tear-Out to Paving-Ready

Most of our commercial jobs follow the same arc: something old comes out, the site gets stripped, and the same crew builds the new pad and the subgrade for paving. These photos are from our jobs around the metro, put in the order the work happens.

Scope of Work

  • Building demolition and debris haul-off
  • Asphalt parking lot removal
  • Site stripping down to native ground
  • Cut, fill and rough grade to plan
  • Building pad and paving subgrade
  • Fine grade handed off to the paving crew

How to Read It

The 9 photos below come from our jobs around the metro and are put in the order the work happens, so you can follow the job from the first step to the last.

Use the arrows or the thumbnail strip to move through the stages. Each caption says what that frame is showing and why it mattered to the ones that came after it.

The Work, Stage by Stage

Every stage in order, with what it shows and why it mattered.

What Matters on Jobs Like This

Old pavement comes out, not under

Burying old asphalt and base under new fill is how a lot settles a year later. The pavement gets broken out and hauled, and the site is stripped to native ground so the new work starts on something everyone can see and test.

Clay placed in lifts

Central Oklahoma clay moves with moisture. Fill and subgrade go down in thin lifts at the right moisture and get compacted one at a time, which is what lets the pad pass the lab and stay flat.

Fine grade that sets up the paving

Subgrade finished to plan elevation between the curb lines means the paving crew can hit the thickness on the plan instead of making up for a high or low spot with asphalt.

One crew from tear-out to handoff

Demolition, earthwork and subgrade by the same crew means no gap between subs. The old lot comes out and the new site gets cut on the same schedule.
